HAZLET – A Jersey City man is facing a stalking charge after allegedly “trying to talk to” a teenage pedestrian, police said.
In a May 24 Facebook post, township police sought to quash rumors of attempted kidnappings or luring incidents.
The department had received reports of two situations where a man tried to talk to a township teen “while she was walking down the street,” according to the post. “With help from a witness who recorded a license plate of the suspicious vehicle, detectives were quickly able to locate, interview, arrest and charge” the 39-year-old suspect.
The suspect had no direct ties to the township other than driving for ride-booking services Uber and Lyft in the area, police said.
