An Uber driver in Michigan stabbed a passenger five times Saturday because he felt the customer “disrespected” his car, police said.
Jacob Matthew Allemon, the 23-year-old driver, attacked his passenger in Bloomfield Township after picking up him and his wife from a holiday party, police said.
When Allemon arrived, the male passenger — a 49-year-old from Beverly Hills — tapped on the car window to let the driver know he was getting in.
Allemon felt the passenger “disrespected” his vehicle with the window tap, police said.
After driving the couple for only about one mile, he ordered the man out of his car. The passenger asked if they could at least wait for another Uber to arrive, since there was a snowstorm.
A brawl ensued, and Allemon stabbed the man five times before the victim disarmed him, police said.
The passenger was treated and released from a hospital the next day.
Allemon was arraigned on an assault charge, ClickonDetroit reported. He is being held at the Oakland County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
Uber spokeswoman Kayla Whaling called the stabbing “appalling” and said Allemon was banned from the app. But she did not answer questions about his employment there, citing Uber privacy policies.
